Hitoyoshi natural hot springs have long history. For instance, there is a record that Tametsugu Sagara, who was one of Daimyos (warlords) and dominated Higo province (located Kumamoto prefecture today) in the Muromachi and Warring States Period, bathed in 1492.

Hitoyoshi natural hot springs have continued for 500 years with the beginning of the Sagara’s record. It seems that many other warlords also soaked in the hot spring in order to relieve exhaust and heal wounds. Our variety of hot spring baths such as the big bath planed like the walls and Japanese storehouses of Hitoyoshi Castle, the indoor baths with viewing Kuma-gawa river, and the footbath Ashiyu getting your fatigue relieved, are in place to aim that you can feel the history as closely as possible.
